8 things

Here we go with the eight things (I've decided to drop the interesting):

1. Although he is two years younger than me, my brother and I share the same birthday. Sadly it is the 11th September, now forever taken over by 9/11.

2. I have such long toes I can pick up pencils.

3. I spent my teenage years convinced I had a hideous long nose, only to realize when I was about 28 that it was pretty normal really.

4. I am a qualified Inspector of Taxes (no, don't run, I don't do it any more).

5. My husband is my mother's cousin (must be a name for it but I am bad at things like that).

6. I love people, food (growing it and cooking it and eating it), plants, gardens, books, sunshine, wine and Welsh classes.

7. I hate arrogance, selfishness, bad manners, parents being aggressive and rude to their children, huge shopping centres, crowded airports, in fact crowds anywhere.

8. I have been colouring my hair for so long I can no longer remember what colour it would be if I left it alone.

Couldn't resist showing you these photos of the garden.

  1. Great photos and list! Oh dear on the 11th September, at least you can always ring each other up and celebrate! It's funny how often that seems to happen with siblings. Ditto on your likes and dislikes, and on the hair colour!

  2. Number 8 made me laugh! I feel mine would be sadly grey. Lovely photo - ours are excellent this year too.

  3. H M Inspector of Taxes almost as bad as admitting having worked for MAFF! Lordy Lordy why did we do it..the pension? Lovely flowers. I haven't got a clue what colour my hair is either...L'oreal, Clairol or Cillit Bang flavour..which ever is on offer!!

  4. my oldest boy is September 10 and thank goodness for that, though know 2 other September 11s. Strange these clusters of dates one gets. Let's not talk about noses.

  5. That was an interesting list.

I hate crowds too-I feel quite overwhelmed and panicky! I always have to leave early if going shopping to avoid traffic and queues too.

I bet you have heard it all about being a tax inspector! As an ex bank manager, I have great sympathy!

    warm wishes

  9. SO thrilled you like the latest chapter. I was really worried about it as it's the only one which switches from Tom's pov to Rowan's.....and I know so many people say you should have unity on that..... If I ever did a sequel, I would have it in Rowan's pov for sure! Once again, thank you SO much for your help with this - it is very much appreciated...not too much to go now!

  10. Fantastic flowers Elizabeth, my foxglove seedlings have only just began to poke their heads above the soil, looking decidedly delicate, don't know if they will make it. Loved your list, made me feel very normal!

  13. love the foxgloves and the poppy, such a pretty salmon pink, shall I name it? ::: ducks:::

You asked about books, I knew I had a lot , but I hadnt realised just how many would fall under the guise of gardening, I gave up counting at 150, and there was still a lot to go , from Stearne's botanical Latin to essays on Design, and EVERYTHING in between! I am not a complete garden geek, honest but a student, doing an RHS General for fun, and a BSc in Garden Design and Garden History in an attempt to change careers!

  14. I'm another one who shares number eight! I really enjoy my Welsh classes too and I share your list of dislikes. I bet your garden's gorgeous.

  15. Great list elizabethm! I have another friend with a Sept 11th birthday. I think that we have celebrated it more fervently than ever since that tragic day - we need to celebrate life where we are!

  16. Purple hair possibly? how cool would that be!

  17. I love the foxgloves. I too can pick up pencils with my toes. There is a word for that which my husband quotes but he is asleep and I can't remember it. (prehensile?)
